Reviews For Chosen Exile
This is really good. Wonderful descriptions. Such a strong story concept. I love the references to Nandor and Avari. I want to go back and read or re-read the stories involving this character.
Ah, I was wondering whether Galwen would meet anyone from her past. It had to happen at some point, didn't it! A rather uncomfortable encounter for all involved - including Uilos, who gets to translate some unpleasant truths. But again, I loved that Galwen (and you) do not dwell on the negatives, and that the story ends on a reconciliatory note.
I enjoyed this story very much. It's great how much agency you have given Linn/Galwen in spite of the limitations under which she has to operate. Her choice of a new name rings very true, and I love that she focusses on the lucky aspects of her story rather than the losses! Her determination to fulfill her debt, even if nobody properly understands it, and to build herself a new life and assert her boundaries are admirable and make her shine. I also really liked the way you wrote the twins - they show some real compassion and wisdom in the way they deal with Galwen's situation!
This is Galwen's back story?
I want to read it, but it might take me some time to get to it, under current circumstances.
It is indeed! I wasn't planning to write it, but then I saw the Darwish quote on the prompt list and some things clicked into place.
I saw you signed up for the Silm 40! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do. :)
