Title: Silmariën

A great, thorough job on this interesting character.  My head is spinning, though, from all the names!  I think that's always what's made reading the Akallabeth so intimidating for me.  I usually concentrate on only a few characters at a time, although it's nice to know the history.  I'm always intrigued by Sauron's part in it all.

Author's Response:

Thanks! Thanks!

For the longest time I could not touch The Akallabeth because of the lists of kings! Then--better late than never--I read Aldarion and Erendis, which is a totally different animal. It is more like a modern novel in a storytelling sense than his other work. I was able, after becoming totally engaged with that excerpt (I wish he had finished it!), to move back and forward in the history of Numenor without my eyes glazing over so badly.

I should pick someone from that period of Sauron's ascendancy or the last days next. Because I do not know that material as well as I would like.

Thanks so much again for reading it and for commenting.
