Story Notes:

This is something of a footnote in my fic series 'The Elvenking’, and the half in non-italics will make its way into a future chapter of this story. You don't need to read it (I would love if you did!), but all you need to know is that in that story’s chronology, Thranduil was born in Doriath, spent his early years as a marchwarden and soldier, and is about 200 years old at the time of the Sack of Menegroth.

Written for B2MeM 2017 with the purple path prompt:

“On silver necklaces they strung The flowering stars, On crowns they hung The dragon-fire, in twisted wire They meshed the light of moon and sun.”
- JRR Tolkien, The Hobbit.
