One Star in the Sky, Book 2: Rising by VCalien2015

[Comments - 1] Printer

Several years after his rebirth, Fëanáro is an instructor of linguistics and oration with the Lambengolmor. Among his first-year students for this term are a soft-spoken poet, an arrogant noble, a fiery radical, and a confused half-Noldo half-Vanya who would rather be a singer. Together, they learn from each other, challenge beliefs, and seek enlighte and truth. All the while, Tirion politics enter new waters and the Dagor Dagorath draws ever closer.

Story Notes:

Welcome to the second book in the "One Star in the Sky" series! A couple housekeeping things before we get started.

First, this story is a bit of an interlude between Fëanáro's rebirth and the Dagor Dagorath, taking a closer look at changing Tirion society as the Last Battle draws nearer, as well as continuing to follow the changes in Fëanáro's character. The tone and subject matter are rather lighter than the first book in this series, so hopefully that'll be a welcome break for you. You don't absolutely have to read the first book in this series to understand the general plot of this sequel, but I would highly recommend it, since I make many references to parts of "Rebirth" in this story and understanding them will greatly enrich your sense of my worldbuilding.

Second, this story's protagonist is Fëanáro and it has quite a few OCs in supporting roles. If you don't like stories that feature a large cast of OCs or those that take a sympathetic view of Fëanáro, this may not be your cup of tea. It also contains some canon-divergent elements, so you're aware if that's not your thing.

All names are given in Quenya since this story is set in Valinor. I'll translate those for you at the end of each chapter. Right off the bat, though, it's important to know that the Lambengolmor was the guild of linguists and loremasters that Fëanáro founded in Tirion in the Years of the Trees.

I hope you enjoy this second installment in my trilogy, and I'm very pleased to present it to you! :)
