Bio:

Well it's been ages. Long story short, I'm now a college graduate (wrote my honors thesis on Tolkien, heck yes! it needs much editing and I harbor the crazy dream of one day going back and rewriting it because at the moment I feel like it doesn't deserve the honors it got but I digress).

I also archive my Silmarillion stories up at http://www.fanfiction.net/ under the penname teh Michiru. I have dabbled in various other fandoms over there as well (though those days are all but done), and have joined the Naruto role play community on Tumblr. If I ever get my butt in gear, I'll start using the personal tumblr I have halfway set up as another archive place.

I took a long and winding road into the Tolkien fandom, but it remains one of the best things to have happened to me. My step-father bought me a box set of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings a short time before the first movie was released to theaters. Bookish and grateful for the gift though I was, I didn't touch the things until after he took me to go see Fellowship in theaters. I still remember looking over at him as the credits started rolling and asking how long the screen needed to rest before the next part would start. (In my defense, I was ten-ish and it made perfect sense to me at the time.)

You can imagine how perturbed I was to hear that 'the next part' wouldn't be released for another few years. I fairly tore through the books after that, and by the time Two Towers came out I was lecturing my classmates about what PJ had changed from the books. I had also (sigh) developed quite the crush on Orlando-las, which fueled my interest in Elves, to the point that I bought The Silmarillion as soon as I heard of its existence. A history of the Elves! Clearly Legolas would be involved from cover to cover! (In my defense, I was still ten-eleven and thought this made perfect sense.)

Like most first time readers, I struggled with The Silmarillion. There were strange dots in a lot of the names and this weird dh thing going on in one of the recurring guy's names-- not to mention the sheer number of characters and places to keep track of, and the archaic narrative style. I'd expected a story, not a history book or fantasy dressed up as the Bible. I read through it all out of sheer determination to not be beaten by the book, and then put it away on my shelf to be forgotten.

It seemed that I subconsciously retained more than I knew, though. Years later, when I was in high school, I stumbled across a massive, tongue-in-cheek crossover fic. The premise was simple: a therapy group for reforming villains. Darth Vader made an appearance, as did Raistlin Majere from Dragonlance, and a villain from Digimon. But there were also a pair of elves, a father and son duo who names and backstories were oddly familiar...

I returned to The Silmarillion, and this time the story came alive. Shortly after that, I found Another Man's Cage. I've been a diehard Silmarillion fan, and a fan of the Fëanorians, ever since. But, as I started collecting more and more of the volumes of HoME, I found myself increasingly drawn to those who were connected to them-- in particular, Angrod and Aegnor, who had at one point been close friends with Celegorm and Curufin.

These days, my primary focus is on Angrod and his line, defending Tolkien's decision to shift Gil-galad's parentage to Orodreth, and on shedding light on this oft-neglected branch of Finwë's family.

During my absence, I must have matured as a writer. It's painful to look back at my fics (Line of Kings primarily) and to realize that certain aspects of them now feel stilted and unnatural. But that just means there's room for improvement and re-imagining. For now, I hope you enjoy what I've written so far!
