"pandemonium_213" is yet another of my numerous aliases. I'm a biochemist and a regulatory medical writer who supports the machinations of the dark lords of Pharma-dûr (pharmaceutical industry).
I am a longtime Tolkien fan, having first read JRRT’s works in the Years of the Lamps, i.e., from 1966 and onward. My non-fiction JRRT related essay may be found on the reference section of the SWG. My public blathering on things scientific dangle like so many overripe bananas on Dr. Joan Bushwell’s Chimpanzee Refuge, which I have shamefully neglected whilst the other noisy chimpanzees hoot and brachiate about. However, with the privileges afforded as the grizzled old matriarch there, I occasionally drop by for a grooming.
My fannish fictional hackery wallows self-indulgently here on the SWG where Trinity is the foundation of the pandemoniverse. The rest goes downhill from there.
I discreetly indulge in Tolkienism as well as mostly non-scientific yammering at The Bad Clam Incident, my LJ web site (see link). The vast majority of Bad Clam entries are friends-locked, but please feel free to speak "friend" and enter. Be forewarned that I bite occasionally, but I've had all my shots.

Summary:
After a celebration in Tavrobel in the famous House of a Hundred Chimneys, Gilfanon, one of the oldest of the Elves, proposes that he, Glorfindel and Elrond journey to the fabled Rock of Omar in the middle of the great desert of Valinor, where it is said that the Rock sings the echoes of the Ainulindalë and of lost life and love. Glorfindel procures a fabulous coach with most unusual beasts to draw it, and so the three fellows set off for an adventure in the desert where they meet Teleri who have embraced the desert and encounter a cagey Vanyarin ascetic who guides them to the Rock of Omar.

Summary:
There are any number of unnamed women in Tolkien's canon who surely played important roles behind the scenes. One of these women is Elendil's wife, the mother of Isildur and Anárion. She figures as a supporting character in my WIP, The Elendilmir, but this strong woman is taking on a life of her own. So, to keep the bunnies from gnawing my ankles raw, I have been writing ficlets about Isilmë, some of which may blossom into full-fledged stories in the future.

A sequel to The Apprentice.

Chapter 34 - A Question of Precautions: Sámaril accompanies Apairivo on his inspections of his tenants' crofts. He discovers that Apairivo has a peculiar avocation, one that reminds Sámaril of Valandil's gifts. They enjoy the hospitality of the farmer and his wife, but when Sámaril lets down his guard, thanks to drinking a couple of generous flagons of hard cider, Apairivo asks a very direct question about an indelicate subject.
Chapter 35 - All Good Beasts: After Sámaril and Apairivo arrive at Farmer Butterbur's croft, Sámaril is called upon to assist Apairivo with delivery of a calf and discovers one of the ways that Apairivo uses his gift of rope from Gil-Galad. Once again, Sámaril enjoys the hospitality of mortal Middle Men and drinks and dances with Butterbur's household. However, on the way back to the manor, Sámaril unintentionally reveals something of his past that causes Apairivo concern. This is further exacerbated when Apairivo mentions an observation made by Carnhul, his horse, and later confirmed by the sleepy Elerína.
