Stories by Earendil

The End of the World as we know it by Earendil
Authored by Lyra.

A few times throughout the month, I thought "... this would make a really cute cartoon". Well, I'm trying to find out whether that's true now. I hope Eärendil won't be too angry with me.

Chapter Title with an asterisk (*) means a warning for (cartoon) violence.

Alternate Tapestries by Earendil, Finrod, Osse
Authored by Eärillë, Lyra, MithLuin, Rhyselle.

Our brainstorming session resulted in so many ideas that we couldn't decide what to go with - so each of us explored a different "What if" situation. Four different takes on the "Doors of Night" challenge:
Maedhros considering a different outcome of Alqualondë;
Lúthien choosing a different time to return to life;
Gondolin is abandoned before it is destroyed;
Maglor makes a different story... end differently.

With bonus illustrations by Lyra, who has by now scanned them properly. *shifty eyes*

Eärendil's journey to Khand by Earendil
Authored by Lyra.

Well, suddenly Eärendil decided to set plotbunnies loose in my head, because surely his journey through the desert deserves more attention than a challenge, a response, and an e-mail.
So this little spin-off story was born, loosely based on some of the challenges but mostly just on, well, Khand and what Eärendil did there. If that's compatible with the rules, I suppose these could be used for the battle against Sauron.

Erukyermë by Earendil
Authored by Lyra.

Tar-Palantír revives the custom of climbing the Meneltarma for the festival of Erukyermë. To his regret, only few of his people care to come along... and after decades of neglect, Manwë apparently no longer bothers to drive the rain-clouds away well in advance.

The Simple Truth by Earendil
Authored by Lyra.

The sad thing about "simple truths" is that they're never that simple, as explored in three double drabbles. Daeron sees the truth he's always clung to turned lie; Maglor fights for a truth he no longer believes in; Amandil is forced to lie to keep his family safe.

The Crystal Sphere by Earendil
Authored by Lyra.

A mysterious find at an archaeological site in Northern Italy takes Will Parry back to the past... or allows him a few interesting insights, at any rate.

May contain spoilers for Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy if you haven't read The Amber Spyglass yet, so you may want to tread with care.

Pillow Talk by Earendil
Authored by Lyra.

Fëanor can't keep some heretical thoughts concerning certain customs of the Eldar to himself. His newly-wedded wife is less than amused... at first.

Rated Teens because, well, it is Nerdanel and Fëanor's wedding night. Accordingly there is some talk of sex, though nothing graphic.
