How do I join the silwritersguild LiveJournal community?

In order to join the silwritersguild community, you will first need an account with LiveJournal (LJ). LJ accounts are free.

If you already have an LJ, please feel free to skip ahead to instructions on how to sign up for silwritersguild. Otherwise, we'll start with how to sign up for a free LJ account.

First, visit the LiveJournal homepage at http://www.livejournal.com. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, you will see a field that allows you to log in, if you have an LJ account already. To the right of that is a link, Create an Account.

Click on Create an Account. You will be taken to a form that will walk you through creating your LJ account.

If you have any questions or need any help setting up your new account, LJ has an extensive set of Frequently Asked Questions. Also, you may email us at moderator@silmarillionwritersguild.org. Many of our moderators are experienced LJ users and will be happy to do what they can to assist you.

Now that you have an LJ account, it's time to get you set up as a member of silwritersguild!

To join silwritersguild, first make sure that you are logged into your LJ account. Next, visit the silwritersguild community information page. This can be accessed in several ways.

Once you are on our community information page, you will see the following:

Click on the link to join the community. You will next be taken to a page to confirm that you want to join the community.

One of the questions you will be asked is if you wish to watch the community in addition to joining it. Watching a community allows you to view that community's entries on your Friends page. It is a convenient way for many members to keep up with community posts; others prefer to visit the community on occasion and would rather not have entries cluttering their Friends page.

Regardless of which you prefer, once you join the community, you have full privileges as a community member! You can now post stories, leave comments on entries, and read all entries posted to the community.
