Amroth's Lament by Flora-lass
Fanwork Notes
For the Potluck Bingo 'From Tolkien's Verse' board prompt 'beyond the great sea-shadow', and also for the Kings & Queens challenge (Amroth having abdicated).
I'm sorry this is so sad! Amroth isn't being very logical or fair, not surprisingly.
Inspired by a discussion at Alliance of Arda, and an instadrabbling session.

Nimrodel!
Nimrodel - and Lórien!
My love and my land
So fearful and so fair.
When did I lose you?
Why did I leave you?
How could I abandon my people?
And how could you ask it of me?
But the battles were too long
And your song spoke to me
Of peace, and the sea.
Though never would you speak my tongue
And now you have abandoned me.
So now I battle the waves
And wave farewell, unwillingly.
I will long for you always.
May I find you once more
Where there is no war.
Oh, my Lórien...my land...
My love...my Nimrodel!
ouch!
Ouch! Poor Amroth, lamenting his decisions (which were not his fault, of course!)
I really like the way you've intermingled his two loves.
Thank you so much for…
Thank you so much for commenting! I think he feels guilty and bitter in waves, poor Amroth. It's such a tragic story, especially with not knowing what happened to Nimrodel. :(
So tragic Indeed! And so…
So tragic Indeed! And so much to speculate on! I wonder whether they eventually get to meet up in/ after Mandos?
I like to think of them…
I like to think of them being reunited in the gardens of Lórien. :)
So sad and evocative....
....Amroth lost everything in the end. All for love. 😭
It's the kind of tragic…
It's the kind of tragic story i think Shakespeare could have made good use of, ouch! I really appreciate your comment.
He is still torn between the…
He is still torn between the two, Nimrodel and Lorien, even in the waves!
May he find peace, eventually!
