Voice from the Sea by Himring
Fanwork Notes
Written during an Insta-drabbling session for the poetry prompt of March 22:
Darkness settles on roofs and walls,
But the sea, the sea in the darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands,
Efface the footprints in the sands,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.
The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Warning: Amroth's canonical character death referenced / implied.

Voice from the Sea
Read Voice from the Sea
Mithrellas leans out into the dark and listens to Amroth’s voice on the wind. All along, it has disturbed her that she never quite found out what happened to him. He must have drowned, she supposes, but how and when? Her husband and his people did not know. The tide left no traces.
She has tried to sing to him sometimes, but he does not hear her. Maybe he would, if she could tell him where Nimrodel was. Maybe he would hear Nimrodel’s voice. If she leaves—when she leaves, at least Mithrellas will not hear his unrelenting lament anymore.
Chapter End Notes
I think I may once have read a fic about Mithrellas that also included a reference to hearing Amroth's voice on the wind, but I can't seem to recall any details.
