Elwing was lost at sea. There was nothing but water in every direction. Her wings were tiring, and she glided low over the surface such that the spray off the waves sometimes hit her. When she had first started flying, she had thought she could find Eärendil, but as time passed and the sun set on another day with no sign of Vingilot, she realized how foolish that thought had been. But Elwing couldn't turn back, for there was nothing left for her there. She had to fly west until she reached Valinor or couldn't go on any longer.
