The twins were bored. That, in Tyelkormo's experience, was a very, very bad thing, more so when Maitimo wasn’t actually home to deal with the terror and he was himself supposed to be the Responsible Adult.
And the twins were starting to turn around Makalaurë’s music room like hunting wolves around a prey.
Tyelkormo absolutely refused to have to deal with Makalaurë’s howling shall the twins touch his instruments.
Tyelkormo sighed.
If he wanted to avoid problems, he needed to deal with the twins himself.
He caught one of them by the collar as he was trying to sneak a bucket of obnoxiously red paint to the music room. His twin froze in his tracks as well, the result of a far too open Osanwë bound:
“Congratulation, you two, you are going to help me bake something for desert tonight.”
“But...”
“Or I can send you to dad straight up if you prefer.”
The twins exchanged a look, mulish, but let their older brother drag them to the kitchen. Their father would be absolutely furious if they interrupted him now in the middle of teaching his apprentices.
“So? What kind of baking do you want to do?”
“Honestly, I don’t even care. So pick a recipe you want to try in dad’s book and we’ll do it.” Tyelkormo shrugged.
“Vanilla biscuits. They’re the best.” Ambarussa decided.
“Vanilla biscuits it is then.” Tyelkormo answered, getting to the right page of the recipe book.
Tyelkormo, knowing the twins too well, sat on the far side counter and would supervise, telling them the ingredients and steps to follow while the twins would do the actual work.
And if the twins, Tyelkormo and most of the kitchen were covered in flour when Fëanáro left his forge and joined them in the kitchen, the master smith absolutely did NOT want to know, and sent them to the baths, watching as they left a trail of white fluffy powder in their wake.
Fëanáro would put the biscuit-shaped pastry into the pre-heated oven, and keep an eye on the actual cooking while his sons were busy getting presentable again.
All in all, Tyelkormo thought as he stepped into the water of the giant warm bath of the house, the twins were laughing, they’d have a sugary treat to eat that evening, and the Makalaurë-shaped disaster was successfully averted. It had been a good afternoon!
I love Tyelkormo's solution…

Devious, Tyelkormo, devious!…
Devious, Tyelkormo, devious! Distract the littles and get something yummy out of it?😆
It worked ;)
It worked ;)
Tyelkormo successfully…
Tyelkormo successfully redirected the mess! And now there will be biscuits instead of Maglorian drama.
Biscuits are always the…
Biscuits are always the prefered end result ;)
Making biscuits is the perfect solution....
....even though they left cleaning the kitchen to their father! I hate to think what the Ambarussa would have got up to with the tin of red paint.🩸
Fëanor volunteered, I'm sure…
Fëanor volunteered, I'm sure. XD
The twins would have done something too nefarious for words, probably involving a beloved harp of their brother. Biscuits were all in the name of family peace!
