Oh, I love these two! Their hearts are breaking on this last night together and so they ensure their last memory of each other is laughter. Both so very wise.

What a lovely ficlet for a first post here!

A true brotherly reaction, to try to cover up the depth of their feelings with laughter and a wise idea to have that be their last memory together. Good response to that prompt! Welcome to the Silmarillion Writers Guild. ❤️

I like their interaction here. It shows a very believable closeness and brotherly behaviour, faced with these circumstances.

It looks as if you mean to write another chapter? If so, looking forward to see how this continues.

Oh this is so painful. Using silliness as a defense against sorrow? They're not just whistling past a graveyard, they're devising an entire musical comedy act amidst a charnel house. It hurts so beautifully, and I love it. Love how you've made every laugh ache like a wound.

Grief and joy alike suffuse this scene, entangled like the brothers themselves: "both and neither." Beautiful (excruciating).
