Darling Enemy

Read Darling Enemy

Eärendil thought he would have the sky to himself, empty except for the distant stars and occasionally the eagles. He was wrong, and his company wasn't pleased.

They fought, long wars of light and swords, struggles in the emptiness until finally, Eärendil tumbled and fell, a shooting star in everyone's sight. The sea was familiar, cold and suffocating.

And then a hand grasped Eärendil's, pulled him from what he had thought would be his grave.

"Stay near, darling enemy. Let us forget our wars, and only quarrel lightly. I would miss you so."

Eärendil stared at Menelmacar and kissed him.
