Speak Friend and Enter: Trends in Fandom Entry Year by Dawn Walls-Thumma
Across three surveys and ten years, the Tolkien Fanfiction Survey has document when authors began writing. These data reveal trends in how film promotions, the films themselves, the books, and other historical contexts have influenced not only who writes but how long they stay.

When the Storm Breaks ...
No matter where we turn to these days, a storm seems to have an impact on our lives. We either face it head on, or seek shelter until the worst has passed. The word storm can both be taken literally or figuratively, of course. As the fanwork creator, you can approach this from many angles.
- What would a storm on Arda look like?
- What reason could Uinen or Ulmo have to invoke one?
- How would a Noldor deal with an ice storm crossing the Helcaraxë?
- What would Voronwë do the moment he realizes that he survived a storm?
