Fanwork Notes

I knew I wanted to do a Fingon for the “on a wing and a prayer” prompt for the 40s challenge. There are so many wonderful illustrations of the Thangorodrim rescue, but I wanted to focus less on the actual rescue and more on what Fingon might feel when he realizes his prayer has been heard and answered (at last? after all this time?) If there’s joy and relief, I think there would also be grief, disbelief and maybe some anger.

I tried so many times to make lineart and a colored version of this, but it kept getting further and further from the emotion I wanted TT So in the end I decided to leave it as a sketch and come back to it another day.

I love it, the shadow of the wing and the feather on his palm. And his expression how he is looking up. And how you've included the harp, with his hand still on it.

It works really well just as it is.

So full of emotion! (Sometimes less says so much more, and I think the sketchiness adds to the feels. )
