This is a torturously painful story to read, but very convincing. (OK. So I am a wimp!) Well done.

Extremely interesting the aspect you chose to examine of Morgoth method of breaking Maedhros. He clearly opted for psychological torment, with a creepy element of self-gratification involved. Ugly stuff, but effective.

I really applaud your use of humor.

"You missed," I said to him, and he sobbed and laughed all the more.

That's life and these guys are if anything bigger than life and would manifest their personalities accordingly.
