Oh, wow! This is great beginning. Dying to see how everything unfolds.

I love the wealth of small details, the descriptions, and reactions and response to surroundings, everything about the different points of view.

Maglin is very intriguing and complex. I liked these lines a lot:

"Thoughts I had of what you used to tell me. Vague images and flights of fancy that were based upon your words. But now that I am actually here it seems like a strange dream that exists within the waking world. Far grander is all I surmised and that is disquieting to say the least."

It has a suspenseful tone to it, absolutely appropriate to subject matter and the tale.
