The young woman startled into the present, letting her book sink. "Yeah, yeah, I'm here," Patience replied evasively, with a downward glance at the text. "Sorry. It just felt like… I was somewhere else, I guess. Sometime else. This is really immersive."
"What's it about?"
"Eh, it's a philosophical text about evil and how humans stopped being immortal. Really interesting, though, I almost felt like I was there. Fantasy original sin, I guess. Can't really say I disagree; with the world going to shit the way it is right now, we're doing something wrong."
