Of Fëanor and the Release of Melkor

Even though still in his earliest youth,
Fëanor took Nerdanel as his bride,
the daughter of the greatest smith -
Mahtan, who had Aulë as his guide.

Fëanor learnt the art of crafting
from his capable father-in-law;
his knowledge was steadily expanding
regarding stones, gems and metal.

Nerdanel also possessed a firm will,
yet she was more patient than her man,
for she'd tame her mind to be still,
trying to fathom the mentality of elseone,

for she desired not to conquer wits,
rather she aimed to embody the cosmic truth,
so at first she often managed to dismiss
Fëanor's outbursting episodes, back then - she could.

Later on his deeds started offending her,
so they shortly started turning cold to each other;
Nerdanel bore seven sons to him; at their blessed birth,
she passed on her temper to some of them; not to all brothers.
