Fanwork Notes

How to Play

The goal of Connections is to sort sixteen words into four categories with four words each. You are allowed to make four mistakes in getting all of the words correctly sorted. Sounds easy enough, right?

A good Connections game, however, has lots of distractors and red herrings and other tricks to keep you from putting the right words in the right place.

When you have figured out four words that belong together in a category (or think you have ...), click those four words. If you're correct, they'll be grouped together, removed from play, and display the category name. If you're wrong, you can try again. The game will alert you if you're only one off from a correct set.

Difficulty Ratings

Once fifty people play a puzzle, we will give it a difficulty rating.

  • 5/5: Extremely Difficult, solved in four tries by less than 20% of people who attempted it.
  • 4/5: Very Difficult, solved in four tries by 21-40% of players.
  • 3/5: Difficult, solved by 41-60% of players.
  • 2/5: Easy ... ish, solved by 61-80% of players.
  • 1/5: Easy, solved by more than 80% of players.

We feature Tolkien-themed puzzles in our newsletter! If you've created one, let us know, and we'll include it in an upcoming issue!
