Read Like the birds
Elwing laughed as the wind caught her hair and clothes. She ran through the grass with her arms stretched out to her sides, waving them like the gulls that flew overhead. It almost seemed to her that she could lift off the ground and join them each time the next gust of wind hit her. She came to a stop as she realized she was closer to the cliff than her nurses had bidden her to remain. As her avian companions continued over the water, unbeholden to her nurses’ rules, Elwing wondered what it would feel like to fly.

Eärendil examined the bird that had fallen to the deck of his ship. It didn't appear to be badly injured, just exhausted, and he figured he would let it rest and heal as long as it needed. The bird looked at him, and he didn’t see the fear he would expect. In fact, it seemed to relax and go still at the sight of him. It closed its eyes again and Eärendil took it below deck.
At dawn the next day when Eärendil woke, he stared in shock for several seconds when he found his wife laying beside him.
