four word prompt: take, different, bright, favor
written for AdmirableMonster, and because I have a vendetta against canned jellied cranberry sauce. It's just so much better homemade, in my opinion.
“Do me a favor, love, and tell me what you think of this?” Salgant proffered a spoon to the figure sitting cross-legged on the countertop of his expansive kitchen.
Maeglin rolled his eyes, but took the spoon. Bright and acidic flavor burst over his tongue, red cranberry skins, seeds, and flesh mixed with sugar and … something else. Something different.
“Is that the last of the summer orange?”
“Not quite,” Salgant beamed. “But you’re very close. It’s an orange liqueur that the House of the Hammer made, and candied ginger root.”
“It’s fantastic,” Maeglin murmured, handing the spoon back. “Absolutely delicious.”
