Eclipse

It happened once a year, when Alcarinquë eclipsed Morwinyon. Glorfindel had been watching Laurelin for weeks, seeing the leaves turn more reddish with every cycle of flowering.
Now, the hour had come. Glorfindel and the other chosen knelt on the soil around Laurelin and prayed. There was a flash of light and they fell onto their faces as they felt time slow down and nearly stop. A leaf landed on Glorfindel's hands as he lay in the fragrant soil, then another.
Golden leaves covered them, remnants of the past. Peace came over them. A new year was upon Laurelin's devoted.
