Written for Tolkien Horror Week 2026 day 4: “out of the mist | awake and asleep.” While this is inspired in large part by Tolkien’s poem “The Sea-Bell/Frodo’s Dreme,” included in The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, you don’t need to have read the poem to understand this, although it would add more meaning.

This takes place the year after the destruction of the Ring, during which time Frodo is troubled by “dark dreams” on the anniversaries of Weathertop and his time in Shelob’s lair.
