"Move farther north," Caranthir says to her a month after the attack, gaze steady on her even as his hands continue briskly gutting fish. "There is plenty of land closer to my fortress, and my people can help protect yours if there is another attack."
Fëanor shrugged, studying the contents of his wine glass. “Something must be done about that house. It will fall down eventually.” “It does not follow that it must be you that tears it down single-handedly. Are you sure you do not want help?” “It’s not as though I…

Aw, we never see these two together, and you've painted lovely heartfelt little vignettes of their interaction. It's good to see Maedhros dealing with Thangorodrim through, well, someone other than Fingon.
Definitely one of the most unique looks at a friendship (and I don't mean that in a bad way) I've never seen before. Your Idril is a fresh voice, candid and caring, and I always thought of her as a free, strong-willed woman who made her own way in a very difficult time. This made me smile. Thank you for a lovely story!
I never saw this character combination written in-depth before, and to be quite honest I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was an amazing, well-crafted read and the way Idril and Maedhros' friendship is so matter-of-fact and sympathetic is nothing short of wonderful, and the ending was exactly right. I may have gotten a little misty-eyed myself. Thank you for sharing this fic.
I mean it. Just... Maedhros and Idril interacting and the way you portrayed both of them was so brilliant and the ending had me tearing up and I just...
I loved the way you dealt with the aftermath of what Maedhros went through -- without going into (a lot of) graphic detail but not sparing us much, either. And Idril. I love the way you wrote her.
The stuffed deer is so cute.
No one thought that I might just like someone to hold. No one except you.
