Binka, this is gorgeous! It flows wonderfully and the meter is superb! (Meter is my weakness in poetry, so I notice anyone who does it really well! :) I can almost hear this poem being sung along with a wooden flute and drums. Very nice!

I can easily imagine the wood elves singing the lines for lyrics.

Oh, I like this a lot and it feels so natural for an elf to feel so attuned to nature instead of singing to the stars. A song of joy a dedication to that which will always accompany them: the trees. What I so like is how you made this full circle: from the joyful opening of the eyes, the 'drinking in' of nature to the more solemn last lines where all that they know will be confined in the memories of the wood (in a way). Masterfully crafted Binks!

 Like Dawn said, the meter is excellent, and that is no small feat, at least for me!  The care with which you chose your words is more than evident. The poem as a whole captures the essence of the wood elf -- a timeless connection to the greater part of Nature.
