The ivy grew thick
around the mouth of the cave
as we came broken
and haunted
to hidden Nargothrond.

Weary of mind and body
we were taken in
healed and fed
and welcomed into this hold
of strength

We will stay here
in hidden Nargothrond
rebuilding strength and strategies
and ensure it never falls
to darkness.

Uli, I'm so glad to see you back! :) I have always liked your poetry (even when I didn't yet like poetry ... yours was an exception ;). This is a painfully ironic piece, a reminder of the hospitality extended to the Feanorians by Finrod's people and the full weight of their ultimate betrayal in pursuit of their oath. Simply stated and just lovely! :)
