This is so powerful and your description with it brought tears to my eyes. The way you use colour and movement to evoke different emotions is so powerful. This feels like grief meeting with anger and fear. The thought of Nerdanel in Aman, unaware of the fates of her family (but probably on some level able to feel their pain), is a feeling and image that actually drew me back to the Silm fandom and this art very much captures it. 

Oh, thank you so much for your comment and lovely compliment! This was my first fan art painting and still one of my favourites. After reading Another Man's Cage, and also Statues (both by Dawn), this moment from Nerdanel's perspective became that much more poignant for me.

I love how the contrasts work here, with shapes and colour.

You've linked Nerdanel with that great conflagration in the East by the colour of her hair as well as emotionally.

And the flamelight in the East has all those different possible associations, too: the meaning of Feanor's name, the burning of the ships at Losgar, the battle of Dagor Bragollach, also the sunrise...
