New Challenge: Title Track
Tolkien's titles range from epic to lyrical to metaphorical. This month's challenge selected 125 of them as prompts for fanworks.
‘Huan,…’ Beren begins reproachfully.
‘No, Beren’ Luthien interrupts him. ‘It doesn’t matter where you go, I will always find you, Huan or no Huan.’
Beren opens his mouth, but Luthien gives him such a look that he shuts it again.
‘No matter where, I say! Even if it takes a thousand years!’
‘Dearest,’ Beren says weakly, ‘I am no Elf, I haven’t got a thousand years.’
‘That,’ says Luthien, ‘doesn’t matter either. You don’t believe me? Wait and see!’
It is impossible. But Beren doesn’t doubt she means it. When Luthien decides, he is learning, there is no holding back.
This drabble also incorporates a tolkien100 prompt "Holding Back".
But if maybe you guessed that I had just been listening to Clannad's "I will Find You" again, you would be exactly right!
