There are so many wonderful Gil-galad origins, but “Fingon finds an orphan on the battlefield and adopts him” is one of the nearest to my heart. I imagine this Gil-galad as being maybe a child of Avari (or similar) parents; Fingon gives him the name Ereinion when he adopts him.

Also a fill for the 25.04 Musicals prompt: Your heart knows in a moment / you will never be alone again.  Not technically true by the canon timeline version of events, but I like to think that’s what little Ereinion is feeling.

Digital artwork. On a smoky and desolate battlefield, Fingon puts a protective arm around the shoulder of a young Gil-galad, who is wrapped in Fingon’s cloak.
