Fireflies

The night was warm and the breeze balmy; night-blooming flowers covered the hillside, glowing in the light of hundreds, thousands of fireflies that flitted about and winked in mesmerizing patterns as Smith climbed to the top. From there he could see a small city in the distance, lights gleaming steadily, nestled between other hillsides, and above it the sky was filled with brilliant stars.

Around him now the fireflies swirled and somewhere nearby music began to play, a sweet piping that was soon accompanied by fair voices, and they called to him, “Come Star-brow, and dance with us!”
