Speak Friend and Enter: Trends in Fandom Entry Year by Dawn Walls-Thumma
Across three surveys and ten years, the Tolkien Fanfiction Survey has document when authors began writing. These data reveal trends in how film promotions, the films themselves, the books, and other historical contexts have influenced not only who writes but how long they stay.
There are few details in the texts about Marach, but he is noteworthy for his allegiances and his descendants, who would become pivotal to the history of Middle-earth and the eventual defeat of Morgoth and Sauron.

Seed and Soil
Maglor reconnects with Elros
I thought I could let you go. I thought I could open my hands and let you fly like dandelion seeds blown on the spring wind, leaving only grit on my fingertips; your memory would chafe at me if I rubbed, and I would smile.
I thought I could keep hold of the slenderest thread and watch as you soared as high and buoyant as a kite on an autumn breeze.
I was wrong. For you have burrowed into my heart, driving roots deep, and I will become the soil once more in which your hopes and precious seedlings grow.
