Maeglin
Prompt words: moon, autumn, soft, laughter.
Read Maeglin
When Maeglin came out of Mandos, it was autumn. He squinted against the setting sun and inhaled all the different colours around him: red, gold and yellow. He walked under foliage and watched golden leaves fall to the ground. Still, there was no sense of decay in the wood. Laughter escaped his mouth, and he was startled by his own voice, covering his mouth with his hand. His skin felt soft and new. Only his memories were old, as if they didn’t belong to this place.
He stayed there until nightfall. Through the foliage, he saw the full moon rise.
Celebrimbor
Prompt words: grief, footsteps, years, slow. This one is relationship-wise slightly inspired by the Harrowing by Chthonion.
Read Celebrimbor
A sound of soft footsteps behind him makes Celebrimbor stop writing. He turns around, hoping to see his friend, although he already knows that the room will be empty. With a pang of grief, he remembers that Frodo is no more. It has been years since he died — his kind can’t live forever even in Valinor. Celebrimbor is happy that they were able to meet, though, and even become friends. Frodo could understand him better than anyone else, and he hopes that his company helped Frodo, too. Slowly, he leaves his desk and goes to make some tea — Frodo’s favourite.
