Gilraen is not the first Man Arwen has seen pass under the eaves of the Last Homely House. Many have come through their gates – seeking refuge, seeking healing, seeking peace – and never left. It is the way of their stories, to seek the chance of more, despite the inevitable loss.

Summer turns to autumn gently, quietly. They know it is coming, but there are no tears to cry. Gilraen is brave, dauntless. Gilraen charges Arwen with her last breaths, her last kisses, to care for and love Estel as she did her.

She will, she does. She makes her Choice.
