Commented on AO3, but wanted to add that I like how Eärendil thinks about what Elrond said - that leadership and being alone on Vingilot are similar burdens. But Eärendil says he is happy (and happy to come home to Elwing), so it isn't for his son or anyone else to complain.

This is so lovely! I really enjoy the first person pov, and your description of the late afternoon. Their love for each other is so assured and comfortable, it feels like a warm afternoon itself. And Eärendil's contentment with his semi-solitary voyages and Elwing's with her Telerin companionship is wonderful. What a lovely piece to read, and a clever userof the prompt — it so suits the vibe of the song.
