I started writing this early in 2025, got stuck near the end and never finished it because I had big ideas for where I wanted to go with it. However, I have accepted the big ideas are not going to happen (and also I don't remember half of them), so we're instead wrapping it up in a nice fade to black scene.
Also, first things first, this fic is in no way a condemnation for Elwing's actions in canon. I love her dearly and everything about her canon actions make perfect sense to me but I do think the concept of what would happen if she disobeyed the Valar's orders to never go back to Beleriand would be very very interesting!!

Summary:
The Valar tell them that they cannot return to Beleriand and Elwing accepts this easily, for she has no reason to return. Sirion is destroyed, naught but ash and rubble and dried blood. The Fëanorians had kidnapped her sons and, she is sure, slain them before she and Eärendil even reached Valinor. There is nothing left for her there.
It takes four years for rumors to reach her ears that her sons likely still live.
