Perils and Heirs by Augustine
Fanwork Notes
Author's Note: I am willfully playing with the timeline here, I know Lindon wasn't established until the beginning of the Second Age, and this takes place before then. The narrative just flowed better if there was a period of stability/Gil-galad's early reign was not solely from a series of war and refugee camps, and if Círdan was already separated from him most of the time. So I guess this is an AU where the Noldor packed him off to Lindon immediately after he became High King.
Gil-galad is in his late 50s/early 60s here, so equivalent to late teens if Elves reach physical maturity around 50 but are not considered full adults until 100. And according to NoME, 72 in sun years is 18 in human years, and 216 is 19. So my best guess is that Gil-galad was equivalent to 17 or 18 when he became High King of the Noldor if we're going in with something like a F.A. ~435-455 birth date if he was "young" in 456. Which… yikes.
Content warning for non-consensual (but the acting party is not paying close enough attention/misinterpreting body language to know that) kissing and biting between a teenager and teenager equivalent. And subsequent panic attack when the realization hits that heirs might be expected of him. It did not feel like quite enough for the Rape/Non-Con tag so I did not tag as such. Let me know if I should change that, I'm new here coming over from A03.
