Magolfin Day

What is Magolfin Day?

Magolfin Day is a one-day mini-event encouraging Silm creators and enthusiasts to delight in all things Maglor/Fingolfin. A hopeful goal of the event is to get to 50 fanworks in the Maglor/Fingolfin tag on ao3 by the close of 2025. As of this writing there are currently 37 works in the ship tag — the idea is to inspire the fandom to create and post at least 13 new works featuring this ship so we can achieve #50ficsmagolfin.

How can I participate in Magolfin Day?

There are several exciting avenues of participation:   Create and post fanworks! On December 29, post Magolfin works on the platform of your choosing and tag @magolfinday or #50ficsmagolfin to be shared on this Tumblr! Magolfin works posted before 12/29 will also be very much celebrated, so please feel free to tag if you've got anything cooking. Mod will be monitoring ao3 in hopes of reaching the goal of #50ficsmagolfin, but Tumblr-exclusive fic and art will be gladly featured as well. Works can be whatever you are inspired to create — fic, art, podfic, etc. — and posted in any language, with any rating. In keeping with many other Tolkien events, Magolfin Day will not promote AI-generated work.  Prompt creators! Very informal prompt-gathering will take place in the run-up to this event! Are Fingolfin & Maglor works eligible for this event?

Platonic explorations of this relationship are fascinating — however in order to count towards Magolfin Day and our goal of #50ficsmagolfin, works must use the Fingolfin/Maglor tag.

What about works that also feature Maglor and/or Fingolfin in other ships?

Fingolfin/Maglor does not need to be the only ship featured in your work — indeed Magolfin pairs very well with Maemag, Feanolo, Russingon and any number of ships. Fingolfin/Maglor should just be a featured tag in addition to other ships — ideally as a central premise :’)

Fanart Frenzy (Multi-fandom Challenge)

Introducing Fanart Frenzy!

• As you may unfortunately be aware, scammers are currently flooding fanfiction comments with art commission scams (more info on the scam and what to look out for here). And we’re absolutely sick of it. So here’s our solution! Fanart Frenzy - an event designed to counteract these scammers and their impact on the fanfiction community, as well as raise awareness of their evolving scams.

  What is Fanart Frenzy?

  Fanart Frenzy is a month-long bingo event designed to bring a wave of fanfiction-inspired fanart into the community, entirely free and unsolicited, as fandom is supposed to be, in order to stem the flow of these scammers, encourage our favorite fic writers, and liven up our fandoms. This event is anti-AI - real, human-made art only! Our first event will take place from January 1-31, 2026.

  How does it work?

  You can sign up via our sign up form! In late December, we’ll send out bingo cards to each participant with prompts guiding you towards fics in your fandom to make art for. (Ex. Make art for a fic with no comments). Throughout January, you can make as few or as many pieces of art as you like - you can aim for a bingo, a blackout, or just pick one fic you really want to make art for. Post your work anywhere you’d normally post it, then share it with the writer and the Fanart Frenzy community.

  Can’t draw?

  No worries! This event is about all kinds of art, not just traditional art - everything from playlists to gif sets to cookies to fiber arts, memes, and more. Anything artistic you can do inspired by a fanfic is perfect for this event.

  If you don’t enjoy making art, the event also includes a Comment Challenge! During sign up, you can choose a bingo card with only art-related prompts, only commenting-related prompts, or a mix of the two. Non-artists can participate alongside artists by following the prompts to find fics in their fandoms in need of thoughtful, kind comments. (Ex. Leave a comment on a fic you’ve reread.)

  You can also help us out by spreading the word! Please tell your friends and fandom communities about our event!

Anairë/Fingolfin Day

Welcome to Anairë/Fingolfin day! This is a mini-fest running on December 13th, 2025.

This fest celebrates the Silmarillion characters Anairë and Fingolfin through the creation of fanworks. People can submit fanworks to be featured on the fest blog. 

To submit a work to the fest, please mention @ananolvo-day in your post and tag it as #Anaire/Fingolfin 2025. There will also be an Ao3 collection called Anaire/Fingolfin Day 2025. This blog will reblog all submitted works.

Why Anairë/Fingolfin? Because the mod likes them and wants to spread awareness of them.

• All kinds of fanworks will be accepted, including fics, art, podfics, amv, memes, meta, etc
• To submit a work to the fest, please mention this blog in your post and tag it as #Anaire/Fingolfin 2025. There will also be an Ao3 collection called Anaire/Fingolfin Day

Celrond Week 2025

"...and it was then that Elrond first saw Celebrían, and loved her, though he said nothing of it."

Announcing Celrond Week, a Tolkien fandom event celebrating the relationship between Celebrían of Lothlorien and her husband Elrond Peredhel, Lord of Imladris and Middle Earth’s favourite wifewise-guy. This event will run from October 20th — 26th 2025, and will feature three elements from which participants can pick and choose if and as they wish, or just go rogue!

1. A traditional “prompt list” — as seen in most fandom events, seven overarching themes and several literary/visual prompts within each one, to provide a spark of optional inspiration.
2. Bingo Challenges — a set of “bingo boards” that cater to those preferring to write sentence-fics, drabbles or shorter ficlets. These will be thematic, and feature short, or single-word, prompts that you collectively 'tick off' to reveal a 'prize' image underneath. Inspired by the @silmarillionwritersguild Potluck Bingo challenge.
3. Visual Prompts: for the artistically minded among us! These will include photo prompts, colour/mood boards, and even meme templates (Eg: “I bet Elrond is thinking about other elves…” Elrond: *thinking about taxation*) that you can take in whatever direction you see fit.

Prompts and boards will be shared on this blog across the next few weeks and in the run up to the event so do follow to keep updated, and the AO3 Collection will be linked when live.

This is Tolkien Fairytale & Folklore Week 2025 — where we return to the stories beneath the stories. Where Middle-earth meets myths, epics, hearth-tales, and the whispering woods of old.

Díscember 2025

• This event focuses on expanding and emphasizing Dís as a character ON HER OWN. This means not focusing solely on her connection to a male figure.
• Pieces can be any fan production including playlists, image boards, character analysis, headcanons, fan fics, etc, provided the focus is on Dís and it doesn't use AI.
• Past works welcome.

• A fanwork of Dís' first trip to Bree!! What does she do? What does she think of the weird mix of hobbits, men, half-dwarrow, and all others mixing together? Does she buy anything interesting? (Insert cursed amulet joke here)
• A playlist depicting Dís' journey from carefree princess of Erebor to desolation to rising as a powerful royal of Ered Luin.
• Mood board of Dís and her ravens.
• A tale of Dís and her raven bestie.
• And so many more things qualify. Have fun and go wild, just remember: DÍS FOCUS.

Tolkien Siblings Week 2025

From the sons of Fëanor to the three remarkable daughters of the Old Took, the Tolkien legendarium is filled with siblings who fight side by side, engage in bitter rivalries, abscond to secret walled cities, and at least once get married. Tolkien Siblings Week, running November 23rd-29th, 2025, is a new fandom event dedicated to exploring these varied and complex relationships.

Event Guidelines

To participate…

• Create something related to a sibling relationship or relationships in the Tolkien legendarium
• @ this blog (@tolkiensiblingsweek) in your post and use the tags #tolkiensiblingsweek and/or #tolkiensiblingsweek2025, or submit your post directly if you prefer
• If you are responding to a prompt, please indicate which one somewhere in the post or tags so it can be properly tagged!

What is allowed?

• Fics, art pieces, moodboards and edits, headcanons, meta, playlists, web weavings, memes, cosplay - as long as it’s made by you and relates to Tolkien siblings, it’ll be gladly received.
• Please do not submit any creations making use of generative AI, whether text or image-based
• NSFW is absolutely welcome! We just ask that you indicate the work is NSFW somewhere in your post or use the “mature” community label for the purposes of appropriate tagging
• Prompts can be split up, combined, or ignored as you please. They are meant to be inspirational, not obligatory!

Are there any rules?

• We are first and foremost here to have fun, which means that we ask you to treat fellow participants with kindness and respect, regardless of how you feel about their works. If you don’t like someone’s interpretation, the direction they took with a prompt, etc etc., please keep your feelings to yourself. Engaging in any form of harassment or rude behavior towards other participants is not acceptable. You have no obligation to like something; you do have an obligation to be polite.
