Aaagghh! I love this so much. What a perfect way of creatively interpreting my presentation topic.

The opening is beautifully and evocatively written. I love your choice of Aragorn's daughter. To think that this is HER heritage, still, all those years later. The personal opening, but lack of a personal ending, it really effective and it leaves the reader to imagine the feelings originating from the project of compiling these arteacts.

Referenced in: “Heir Divided: The Absence of Elros in Elvish Artistic Memory”,  a critical Numenorian study exploring the imbalance in depictions of the children of Elwing in Elvish visual and literary works.

Ok, I love this concept of how history treats Elros and Elrond differently because of their divergent fates.

begins "M." and ends "—dir"

OMG GANDALF?? He would. I love him.

Fostering by Feanorian royal figures is attested but inconsistently detailed.

Again, what an interesting difference we see between the history of Men and the history of Elves. For Men, Elros is so distant that his upbringing by the feanorians is itself doubted. Very compelling.

I loved the artwork descriptions. Gah! This is all such thought-provoking stuff and totally my jam. Thank you for writing.

a late reply but omg thank you so much for commenting and your kind words!! this was a super fun project for me, even though i was only able to scrape the surface of what my original (over-ambitious) plans were!

i really wanted to show a variety of opinions and views about the topic (just like how see see in the current fandom...but what those views could have looked like in-universe!) there were some things i ended up not being able to include: maybe someday i'll come back and have her discover another few boxes worth of documents!

originally i set out to mostly use primary sources but then i got distracted by thinking about how interesting in-universe secondary sources would be (the "Heir Divided: The Absence of Elros in Elvish Artistic Memory” was one of my favorites i came up with). i really enjoyed poking a little at the differences in how humans and elves treated elros and elrond and their legacies. i also intentionally wanted to avoid any sources that came directly from elrond, elros, maedhros, or maglor: a sort of negative space that one would have to construct from what the documents show.

"begins "M." and ends "—dir" OMG GANDALF?? He would. I love him.
HAHA actually that was just my way of avoiding have to come up with a name but now that you mention it...... 👀

i'm really glad you enjoyed!!! i loved your presentation and had a lot of fun working on this lil project <3
