Fëanor shrugged, studying the contents of his wine glass. “Something must be done about that house. It will fall down eventually.” “It does not follow that it must be you that tears it down single-handedly. Are you sure you do not want help?” “It’s not as though I…
This is my new poetical attempt to add my own interpretation to Tolkien's Cosmology as to Eru's Creation and the Valar's minds and behind-the-scene providence reasons and mechanisms.. I often review Eä as part of our own world, just in another dimension, this is why I have always seriously…
Concerned by his responses to the paraphernalia of healing, Fingon steals Maedhros from his room for an impromptu garden excursion. Maedhros battles with dark thoughts.
Rescued from a brutal Angband hunt, an ex-thrall with a strange and powerful artifact embedded in his spine is brought to Himring, for it is one of the only places in Beleriand which welcomes such folk. Though he has no memories of his life before, Anniavas slowly becomes accustomed to his new…
Expanding on my 2018 article "Why People Don't Comment," comment data from the SWG underscores community as an essential component to a robust commenting culture.
By definition, fanworks fandom does not draw a lot of boundaries, but community archives and events have taken a strong stance against AI-generated fanworks due to ethical considerations and member input.
In a book as full of death as the Quenta Silmarillion, grief and mourning are surprisingly absent. The characters who receive grief and mourning—and those who don't—appear to do so due to narrative bias. Grief and mourning (or a lack of them) serve to draw attention toward and away from objectionable actions committed by characters.
Bilbo, the strange old hobbit with the wandering feet, senses something special in young Frodo the first time he sees the lad; as they become close, they find in each other a cameraderie not well understood by other hobbits. Five poignant moments between Bilbo and Frodo Baggins over the course…
A Chieftain is dead. And whilst the events surrounding his death are unclear, a son tries to come to terms with his loss.

I'm very glad you like it! Counting words doesn't exactly come naturally to me. It's not just that true drabbles are so short, isn't it? (Although, of course, that's part of it.) I guess drabblers get a feel for it, with practice.
I love when a drabble has a lot packed in it without the feeling of being packed at all, if I make sense here. Which probably means that I like your little tale here a lot :) Good stuff!
Those are both lovely and written in tropes close to my heart in this love story: Fingon leaving Himring in the morning and Maedhros being comforted by Fingon when facing nightmares of his captivity. There are some things that I just cannot read too many of . . . .
I guess I'm like you there! I cannot read too many of these, so I couldn't resist writing another one myself... There's a passage in your Mereth Aderthad on the subject, too, isn't there? Fingon tries to say soothing things to Maedhros, and Maedhros thinks that Fingon's presence alone is enough to calm him--is that how it goes? I really liked that one.
I love this! I see this as "so Maedhros," at least how I see him, with his need for deliberateness and order, in contrast to Fingon's willingness to go with the flow. Beautifully written! :)
Thank you very much, Dawn! I suppose it is natural that we would see Maedhros in similar ways, as so much of my original inspiration stems from your writing. But I'm glad I managed to capture him for you here, especially as I'm such an inexperienced drabbler!
Even a situation where it's understandable if he acts impulsively, he tries to keep control. That’s your Maedhros, alright. The last line, with Maedhros putting Fingon’s arm back where it was, is lovely.
In that fashion, unpleasant memories and deeply held fears can unexpectedly surface. It is the wise partner, the one who truly is the other half of one's soul, who will realize those times and, instead of holding them as negative reasons, in a way embraces them as reasons for increased closeness and compasion. These two just glow under your pen.
I have read the other 3 drabbles that are part of this story and I have to say - they are brilliant. Maedhros and Maglor are my most favourite charcaters in the Silmarillion and your strories portray them exactly as I imagine them. I am horrible at limiting myself as far as word count goes but you manage to convey breath taking emotions and thoughts in maybe 4 sentences. Your work is amazing and I truly look forward to reading more. Especially in this series:)
I'm glad you like the way I portray the characters and that you think they come across well in these drabbles.
I used to think I couldn't limit my word count until I found that I could, if the subject was right--so you may soon find yourself writing drabbles also!
As I said before at AO3, it's amazing how you're able to communicate so many things with so few words. I love how Maedhros looks strong and vulnerable at the same time, and how he holds on to his love for Fingon.
And I love how steadfast, loving and generous Fingon is.
