Cause and Effect
“Please explain...THIS,” the Lord said, looking at the remains of his stable.
The Stable Master, bowing, told this tale. “The milkmaid was milking the cow, a cat nearby. The cat spotted a mouse and gave chase. They awakened the hound, which joined the chase. The hound lost footing and hit the lantern post. The loose hook suspending the lantern gave way. The lantern fell and broke, causing a fire. The horse, smelling smoke, panicked, knocking down his stall door. While we were catching the fleeing animals, the stable burned. Oh, and the mouse drowned in the milk bucket.”

The Stable Master is a master of concision.
