Fanwork Notes

I've enjoyed translating some children's songs into Quenya as I learn. Please be mindful that while these are my best attempts at translation, there may be some linguistic inaccuracies. I hope you enjoy!

Tintila, Tintila Elinkë

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star!

Tintila, tintila elinke [Twinkle, twinkle little star]

Novenye ita nálye [I imagine that which you are]

Or menel i lómesse [Above the heavens in the night]

Véla míre menelesse [Alike a jewel in the heavens]

Maglor's notes: best to drop this rhyme if the star in question is in fact a relation to your elfling audience bearing an holy jewel.

Háno Túro

Háno Túro, Háno Túro [brother Túro]
Ma lórat, Ma lórat [You are sleeping?]
Lingië nár nyelli, Lingie nár nyelli [Ringing are bells]
Salambe, Salambe [echo sound]

Maglor's notes: Elflings are insatiably curious. They are likely to wonder why Túro is sleeping at an unusual time of day. My suggested answer for such questions is that Túro became sleepy after eating to much bread.
