About Me
I'm a twentysomething graduate student and aspiring writer who's been in and out of the Tolkien fandom for several years now (reading, debating and occasionally dabbling in parody-writing). However, I've only just re-read the "Silmarillion" after about six or seven years, and this time around, I was captivated as never before by the heartbreaking tragedy, the fascinating characters - and most of all, by the wealth of scenes just waiting to be described in more detail. The whole thing seemed to be crying out for exploration by fanfiction writers - so I think I'll be having a go.
In RL, I'm a graduate student in political science/international relations at the University of Cambridge in the UK, where my particular academic interests include just about everything to do with either China or the United States. I haven't yet found a way to combine my day job and Tolkien, although I have toyed with the idea of doing a study (inevitably very tongue-in-cheek) of politics in Middle Earth.
