Fanwork Information

Summary:

Nerdanel ran her fingers along one, and turned her thoughts to her son, hoping for a glimpse of more than a misty shore, or of the ragged hem of his cloak. She wished to see his face, wished to see that he was somewhere safe and warm and perhaps not still alone after so long. But even a glimpse of him lonely but whole upon the shore would be a relief, and enough to banish the dreams that had troubled her, knowing them for just dreams and nothing more.

Troubled by dark dreams, Nerdanel picks up a palantír to seek for Maglor. She finds him.

After, Maedhros has returned to life and also seeks for his brother--and also finds him.

Wow, this was impressive writing, and a heartbreaking story! I loved the idea that they had Palantíri for each family member to check on them. But oh no, what a horror Nerdanel faces as she looks at the Palantír. Thankfully Nienna is there. And the ending is quite thrilling! I suppose there’s going to be more?

Having read Unhappy into Woe and The Chain That Snaps, I thought I knew what was I was in for. This story still managed to surprise me. The way that you've written this content through the eyes of different characters has really brought out the different perspectives and aspects of it. It was powerful reading from Maglor's perspective, nailbiting yet hopeful from Elladan's (or was it Elrohir?). It's devastating reading it from Nerdanel and Maitimo's. I'm grateful you choose to look at this story through these different lenses, and thank you for sharing.
