From the SWG discord instadrabbling session on January 19, 2025. For the prompt: "Beauties, terrors, sun, power". Alphangil, the wife of Fingon, sails west, reflecting on her life.
She still could not imagine sailing even as the ship swept her from Mithlond on the evening tide, into the setting sun.
Her son had ruled there for an Age; her husband before had reigned only seventeen years, nothing in the grand stretch of time, but looming large in her love and memory. Her birthland lay long under the waves.
She had made home after new home, from Mithrim to Eithel Sirion, Eglarest, Balar, Lindon, Rivendell, suddenly feeling like she had drained both the beauties and terrors of life to the brink.
She had enough power for one more time.
