It was impossible to ignore the Marring of the world after he had stood defiant before the Marrer and spat in his face. He could feel the threads of Morgoth's power snake far into the land like the twisted tendrils of some noxious growth, sometimes reaching to find and choke him.
But even so, waking in the healing ward in Mithrim, the clomp of Estelindë's boots over the freshly-scrubbed floorboards, his Master Healer bringing him tea, Findekáno at his side and sunshine through the window - he could not help a flood of joy, even now himself irrevocably marred into freedom.
