New Challenge: Title Track
Tolkien's titles range from epic to lyrical to metaphorical. This month's challenge selected 125 of them as prompts for fanworks.
“Here,” said my lord’s terrifying sister, one graceful finger indicating a dark area on the southern edge of the map.
“You astonish me,” Lord Felagund replied, “for I have heard–I have long known–that this Taur-in-Duinath is an unwelcoming place, avoided by Orc, Dwarf, and Elf alike.”
“And that is all the proof I need to confirm that my enchantments are working.”
“Regardless of enchantment, or the understandable need for secrecy,” I put in, “surely your new hidden realm will need supplies, Lady Artanis, and my traders can be very discreet–just ask Lord Turgon.”
“My realm will be self-sustaining, and unreachable, so please desist from sending so much as a single caravan,” she answered with a dangerous smile. “Even if my sense of foresight tells me that you will be tormented by the temptation. Not the greatest temptation you will ever face, though, for that is yet to come, and you must refuse that one too, lest you doom us all.”
