New Challenge: Title Track
Tolkien's titles range from epic to lyrical to metaphorical. This month's challenge selected 125 of them as prompts for fanworks.
Under Lord Felagund's gentle leadership, our realm experienced centuries of peace and prosperity, until the Siege of Angband came to its fated end. My warnings of strange changes to the Enemy’s buying patterns went unheeded, and sudden, poisoned flames swept out of Angband, destroying all in their wake.
By fortune, my own investments were spared, including even the debentures: I had long abandoned flammable forms of paperwork, and switched entirely to durable stone tablets. At the same time, two of the Kinslayers lost all but the clothes on their despicable backs, and came to our fortress seeking refuge–not to mention fresh supplies, which I was happy to provide on credit, backed by a heavy contract of Dwarven complexity.
Ruin was guaranteed to follow–their complete financial ruin, that is.
