Flames of Ice

Maeglin's hopeless love. For the prompts:

pleasure, noble, fire, eyes

There's a hole in my pocket where my dreams fell through

Wintering with snow / That did not melt / It fell long ago / At night, by stealth

I never saw a princess among Elves before.

She started a fire in my soul

With her golden-silver light, and her noble gaze

Which once fell on me - and there was kindness in her eyes.

But I found no pleasure, for all the pain that followed

As my dreams died and I knew it could not be.

Then winter came, and turned each flame to ice,

Which burned just the same, but led me to the Enemy.

I was hounded by hope

And helped unleash a horror.

Alas! I turned on my beloved -

And now am lost to the abyss.
